Head Down 03:25
Head Down – I’m gonna make my hammer, make my hammer ring Let down by the radio playing a song I wouldn’t sing Head down at rabid pace just to pay what I owe Wrapped up in a sad man’s face and a poor man’s glow Getting left out in the cold Hard up big time and undersold Breaking up hard rocks and I’m getting rolled Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Head Down - I’m gonna break my bones Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Head Down - on my way to the bottom, the bottom of the pile And now I’m digging my grave with a nail and a crooked smile Head down as I take my place up against the wall Cuz I was taking up space when they made their call What’s this I hear about the good old days? Rockin' the blues in so many ways Now three give an order, and one obeys Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Telling tall tales and spitting chrome Another round in the Thunderdome I don’t know when I’ll be getting home Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Head Down - I’m gonna break my bones Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Head Down - I’m gonna break my bones Head Down - I’m gonna make no money Head Down - I’m gonna break my bones Head Down – I’ll make no money Head Down - I’m a’ break my bones Head Down - I’m a’ make no money

H.E.A.V.Y. 04:31
Goin' down on a Friday night Sun's going down and I'm losing the light I come from the land of the garbage bag trees I stand on guard for thee And I've had it up to here No more empty thoughts it’s oh so clear Well it might get heavy So you better get ready Well it might get heavy So you better get ready Alright Never let your fears take hold They'll swallow you up and eat you whole It doesn’t matter if you're 38 years old Or trapped in the back of an aqua truck And I've had it up to here No more empty thoughts it’s oh so clear Well it might get heavy So you better get ready Well it might get heavy So you better get ready Well it might get heavy So you better get ready So you better get ready Cuz it's gonna get heavy

Shake 02:11
Reimburse the universe Incarcerate the interest rate Iron clad for the rest of your life Why's the pen always stronger than the knife? Rebel, Rebel Shake with the devil Rebel, Rebel Shake Funny money rules the sky Turn you over to see your white eyes Lining up for your dividends With your worn out dancing shoes and your so called friends Rebel, Rebel Shake with the devil Rebel, Rebel Shake with the devil Shake Rebel, Rebel Shake with the devil Rebel, Rebel Shake with the devil

Bad Thing 05:06
I did a Bad Thing Mothers and priests - stay away from me I did a Bad Thing Mothers and priests - stay away from me Maybe I’ll buy a boat and sail to sea. I did a Bad Thing Mothers and priests - stay away from me I did a Bad Thing Mothers and priests - stay away from me Maybe I’ll buy a boat and I’ll sail to sea. Met a string of heartless girls and they line the winding road Met a string of Dartmouth girls and they line the winding road When I’m on my boat, my heart won’t carry no load. Got a post card from the devil All it said was “See you soon ”Got a post card from the devil All it said was “See you soon” In the day the sun is my friend In the night the light of the moon.

He said sit on down I'm the king of the road Drove a thousand miles played a thousand shows He had dark yellow teeth and blood shot eyes Listen to me fella I'm one of a kind He said I'm the king of the road and I don't know when I was last home and I'm always on the run Loading up your gear from empty bars Keep your nose clean or you won’t get far Younger blood will come you wait and see So don't forget your coffee and your hotdog tea He said I'm the king of the road and I don't know when I was last home and I'm always on the run He said I'm the king of the road and I don't know when I was last home and I'm always on the run

I Feel You 06:53
I seen a lady with a wounded step That concealed a wreck Extended hands, what’s your name, whats your plan? Where does your shadow stand? Broken dreams, your face shows hurt Live through a child to get back your worth Old fashion cycles that keep us around Where will you be when your shadow’s down? And I feel you (I feel you) And I feel you movin’ on (I keep moving, I keep moving) And I watch you (I watch you) And I watch you movin’ on Met a man with a forced hand Who had to sell all his land Asked himself “Can it get any better?” That’s what he wrote in his final letter And I feel you (I feel you) And I feel you movin’ on (I keep moving, I keep moving) And I watch you (I watch you) And I watch you movin’ on (I keep moving, I keep moving) And I feel you (I feel you) And I feel you movin’ on (I keep moving, I keep moving) And I watch you And I watch you movin’ on And I feel you (I keep movin) And I watch you (I keep movin) And I feel you (I keep movin) And I watch you (I keep movin) And I watch you (I keep movin) And I feel you I see the light (soft) I keep moving I see the lie I keep moving I keep moving I see the light Running from the fight Into the night I see the lies Running from the fight Into the night I see the night Running for the light Into the fight I see the night Running for the light Into the fight I keep moving I keep moving on

about

Nova Scotian rock'n'roll underdogs The Royal Volts leave bruises with their incendiary second recording "Hard Landings". Containing six highly-concentrated tracks - including the lilting working-class rant "Head Down" - "Hard Landings" runs the gauntlet of rock'n'roll idioms, flawlessly shifting between bluesy howlers ("Bad Thing"), incidious earthmovers ("Shake"), drag-strip boogies ("King of the Road") and epic electric rave-ups ("I Feel You" and "H.E.A.V.Y.").

Produced by Jon Landry (The Stanfields, The Town Heroes) and mixed by Darren Van Niekerk (Matt Mays, Deep Dark Woods), "Hard Landings" is a perfect picture of a young rock band at its most dangerous - hungry and with nothing to lose.
